- Key Techniques: Organic Modeling, UV Unwrapping, Scene Lighting.
Skills Showcased
Cartoon character design, environmental composition, creating realistic sand/water materials, and posing for narrative effect.
The Blender-Only Workflow
1. Character Modeling & Sculpting
The dog character was modeled and sculpted entirely in Blender. This involved block-out modeling for the base shape, followed by sculpting tools to define the face, fur detail, and cartoon proportions.
2. Environmental Modeling & Texturing
The scene, including the sand, an sky were built and textured within Blender. Custom node setups were utilized to create the subtle sandy texture and the clear, sunny sky giving the environment depth.
3. Composition and Final Render
The final stage involved lighting the scene using an HDRI and several fill lights to achieve the bright, mid-day aesthetic. Composition was key, carefully placing the lobster and adjusting the camera lens to create a playful, dynamic interaction between the character and the viewer.
